STEM Day (1/22/24)
January 22, 2024
In an electrifying celebration of curiosity and discovery, Cider Mill School recently allowed us to host a captivating STEM day for fifth-grade girls, igniting a spark of inspiration for all things STEM! The day kicked off with an exciting chemistry eruption called “Elephants toothpaste.” The girls even got hands-on experience competing to build the biggest replica of the explosion. We then learned binary coding, where the young scientists enthusiastically delved into experiments, coding bracelets and key chains with secret messages. Next, the air buzzed with excitement as the girls dug into our engineering station. After learning how to build a simple circuit through a lemon battery, the little engineers collaborated and problem-solved, finding new ways to create a working circuit. Finally, we studied the phenomena of pi and how this constant ratio can be seen around you …even in a circular cookie! By the session’s end, the little Miss Einsteins echoed with newfound confidence as these young minds embraced STEM's limitless possibilities, empowered and ready to shape the future.
